WA AIDS Council: 30 Years Together with the Community

Here are some photos from the WA AIDS Council 30th Anniversary Community Event held on Saturday October 10, 2015.

Thank you to all of the guests, volunteers, performers, venue and catering staff who ventured out in the heat yesterday to take part in the 30th Anniversary Event at WA Ballet Centre.

Newly appointed Chairperson Sam Hastings opened proceedings as host for the day followed by a Welcome to Country by Daniel Garlett of the Dadajaal Dance Company. What a way to open proceedings - a didgeridoo performance and several dances with one that got some guests to participate – thank you to those who got involved!

Paul Baines spoke as a NAPWHA representative followed by a captivating performance by the Gay & Lesbian Singers of WA (GALSWA).

We were then honoured to have our Clinical Services Manager Lisa Tomney present awards to 30 individuals and organisations who have played a significant role in the response to HIV/AIDS over the past 3 decades. You are all truly inspiring.

Crystal Chandelier then took the floor as the final performer with DJ Baxter playing tunes until the end. A HUGE thank you to both Crystal and DJ Baxter for donating their time to this event.

We hope that those who attended made some great connections and re-engaged with others in the community and sector. Collaboration is paramount moving forward. Let us continue to do so and strive to make positive change.
