Rio Carnival offers creative ways to promote safe sex

Rio Carnival has provided local health promotion teams a creative space to raise awareness of the Zika virus, a virus spread to people by mosquito bites. It has also offered an avenue to promote safe sex behaviours and re-enforce the importance of condom use during the party season.

"Condoms are free as part of Brazil's robust sexual health program, developed in response to HIV and AIDS. Now there's a new reason to use protection. This week, a person in Texas was found to have contracted Zika through sexual contact with someone who had returned from a country where Zika has spread." - NPR
